Really love it. Really. Not perfect but perfect for what I want it to do.
I bought this almost 2 years ago now and I use it a lot. I will be using it for podcasts that I produce in the future. For the last two years, I have been using it to go through learning materials and extract the best information. I have been writing a book and it helps me look for ideas and make quizzes and such. I love it.
Some companies nickel and dime you for each thing you want to produce, but Castmagic allows you to export all the things you want, and even add your own. I have uploaded podcasts, audiobooks, videos on random subjects, my own audio, and a lot of other stuff. It produces awesome things.
I also like how the output content is written. Some other programs that do similar things but I do not like the writing. Castmagic does a good job of that too.
Here is what would make it better for me. I do not like how it looks. I know that is petty but I just dislike the aesthetic. You also have to dig to find how many minutes you have left. You have to click on a bunch of stuff to go to billing to check. I also would love if you could save a general writing sample instead of putting it in every time. I also do not really know what the content pipeline is, but that is my fault, I should learn. I also added some community prompts and I would like them to automatically be added to my previous content as options.
It sounds like a lot of suggestions, but I have used it a lot and those are just things that have bugged me. But this gets better all the time. They are working on it.
I love the new Magic Chat and just tested it yesterday. It works fantastic – you just click on the recordings you like and use AI to ask questions. I have another program (that is more science-based) that I wish was this easy.
Anyway, that is about it. It is one of my top 10 purchases from Appsumo. Letterly, YT CopyCat, Maekersuite, are some of my other favorites.

I love this app
I've been using Castmagic for awhile now and I find it to be the single, easiest AI content creator I've used, and it keeps getting better. Well supported and now I am customizing the AI prompts (which are already great), to deliver even better, more focused, content for me to use.

A good beginning, but also trying to be everything to everybody...
I like Castmagic — genuinely. Even though I currently see more cons than pros, I’m still rooting for it. I’m choosing to see this tool as an investment in something that could evolve into a game-changer. If you’re considering jumping in, I say go for it — but understand that you’re investing in potential. I believe Castmagic has a solid shot at becoming the "Canva for podcasting," but right now, it feels like it’s trying to be everything for everyone. That ambition comes at the cost of focus, which shows in the UI and overall user experience.
The Pros:
- Prompt Integration Done Right: Finally — a tool that lets you run AI prompts inline with your podcast transcript with just a click. This feature is incredibly useful and forward-thinking.
- Customer Support: The live chat support is responsive and genuinely helpful.
- Educational Content: The how-to videos are excellent — not just explaining how, but why a feature exists. That level of thoughtfulness goes a long way in onboarding.
The Cons:
- Transcript Editing: This is where Castmagic really struggles. Like any transcription tool, you’ll need to make corrections. But here, edits don’t update the timecodes, which creates alignment issues. Moving quotes between speakers doesn’t update the logic or playback. And speaking of playback, having to start from the beginning every time (instead of the sentence you're working on) is a major time-waster.
- Poor UI Prioritization: Crucial episode-level features like “context prompts” are buried deep in the interface. These are foundational elements of the app, and they deserve way more prominence — both visually and functionally.
- Workflow Gaps: You can’t fill out a context prompt before a transcript is generated, meaning you have to re-transcribe just to input that information. That’s not just a UX flaw — it’s a workflow blocker.
- UI Design: The dark UI isn’t just aesthetic — it’s oppressive. I usually love a dark theme, but here, it feels claustrophobic. Sub-menus in the sidebar (like “Prompts” and “Pages”) are so dim they’re almost invisible. It all adds up to a design that discourages deep work and invites frustration.
Final Thoughts:
Castmagic is an ambitious tool, and I can see flashes of brilliance. But it’s clear that it's still in its early stages, and the devs are juggling too many ideas at once. My hope is that they take a step back and focus on polishing the core — transcription, context, prompt integration — before expanding outward. For now, I’ll continue using Castmagic in tandem with other tools, especially for transcription, but I’m excited to see where this one goes.

Potential Undermined by YouTube Link Issues and Studio Bugs
I recently purchased Cast Magic T3 because of all the raving reviews, and while there are some useful features, I’ve encountered significant issues that make it hard to recommend.
One major problem is the functionality of YouTube links. It’s currently not working, forcing me to manually download my YouTube videos and upload them to Cast Magic. This workflow is anything but efficient, and it's frustrating that I have to go through these extra steps. Every other app I know handles YouTube links for transcriptions without a hitch, so it feels like a lack of resources or urgency on Cast Magic's part to fix this. For me, this is a dealbreaker.
Additionally, I've been trying to generate some shorts in the Studio feature for the past couple of days, but I keep running into errors. I reached out to their support team, who confirmed there is a bug they're working on. While I appreciate their quick response, it was frustrating that there was no apology or friendly tone in their reply. It felt like I was inconveniencing them rather than them supporting me as a customer.
Besides these issues, the app is okay, but honestly, it doesn't offer anything I couldn't automate with ChatGPT. If Cast Magic doesn’t resolve the Studio bugs and get the YouTube link functionality working soon, I will be requesting a refund. It’s disappointing because I see potential in the app, but these problems are major hurdles that must be addressed quickly.

Apr 3, 2025Thanks so much for the thoughtful and honest feedback—especially around the YouTube links and Studio bugs.
You're totally right about the YouTube issue. YouTube recently updated their TOS, making it significantly harder for us to reliably import videos directly. We're actively working on solutions, but realistically this one might be challenging to fully resolve. And while others may have found...

Good in some ways. Poor in others
Had a first crack at it with a couple of long form videos.
The transcript is good, but could be better. Still the option to edit it and correct specific names or jargon works fine. Assigning speakers automatically works great. As well as editing them. Really love that feature.
The creation of different style text posts based upon this transcript and the option to create from several standard prompts is an interesting one and works well. Also creating your own custom prompts works well. This would be the reason for me to keep going.
Because what they call the Studio is not good at all for the moment. I understand they're working on improvements. That's good, because it needs a lot of them.
For me, at this moment in time, it's unusable though. When switching sizes from the original 9:16 to any of the other options slices up the video in a strange way and there is no way to just have the video fit within or choose yourself what part of the video you would like to cut or show. Captions can not be moved to a better spot and you have limited options in styling them. Rendering takes forever and I have had several examples where rendering just halted and nothing was produced at all.
Tried support once and they were very responsive and trying to do their best but when they could not tell me what was going wrong themselves and had to refer to their developpers I 'm still waiting for that follow up.
All in all I had higher hopes from the reviews and comments I read before jumping on. I started out with tier 2 and thought if all went well to upgrade quickly. Guess for now I will keep it, crossing fingers they improve, but have not been convinced to upgrade so far...

Apr 1, 2025Thanks so much for the thoughtful and honest feedback — especially around Studio. You’re totally right, and this is actually one of the main reasons we came back on AppSumo: to gather insight and invest heavily into improving that part of the product.
We’re already deep into a revamp of Studio — fixing any rendering/export bugs, improving how videos resize and crop, giving you more control over...
