Unfortunately, product feels unfinished and unrefined

It's supposed to replace Quickbooks and Freshbooks, but the UI is outdated. Reminiscent of a Geocities or Angelfire website.

I also had issues connecting my bank account. It connected at first, but then it disconnected within fifteen minutes. I tried again the next day. I haven't experienced this with Quickbooks or Freshbooks. Now, it's stuck on loading for the past hour.

Overall, it feels like an unfinished product. The UI is difficult to understand, and connection issues. I purchased this based on the good reviews and not wanting to pay for a subscription for bookkeeping, but this isn't worth it.

Just doesn't work, support is lacking..

I tried to give this product a chance but after 47 days of some back and forth with support I am done being a beta tester for this cheqbook.

I started out trying to connect my two main accounts that just would not connect and errored out. I emailed support and didn't hear back for a couple of days and got a decent reply that also apologized 'First, not sure how I missed this ticket yesterday, but I did. We should have responded more promptly. ' Ok great, but then it just kept going down hill from there.

I would have to reply to get updates about accounts never connected, support would send an update test again, test again, test again still never worked. It seems that they are not very familiar with their own software to work with the vendor to resolve this on their own. I can understand part of that but instead of having the customer keep testing, work on your side to get it checked first. This part was very frustrating.

Finally after 47 days they said try again (9th time) so I did. Hey it moved one step further FINALLY but still didnt work. It shows the account in my list but when I tried to view it, it shows not sync'd and the register defaults to 1900-1999.

In poking around the software it resembles microsoft money from 1997, they need to focus a little more on the interface and layout to make it a little more friendly.

I would advise they review the support process, how they handle communications with vendors and work on this a little more so support understands how it works.

Detailed & Thorough But Missing Features

I just purchased this product as an alternative to Wave Accounting Software, completed the setup, created and sent and invoice; and it is not bat at all. Although it's a bit of a learning curve to find things, it seems pretty good and well worth the price. However, I have noticed some things about Cheqbook:
1. It does not allow for every business account. I use American Express Blueprint Business Checking but it will only find and pull my personal accounts.
2. The invoice is not very visually appealing. The logo area reduces the quality of my logo and makes it look pixelated (bad for branding). I think the invoice design could use a facelift to match the quality of the Cheqbook product.
3. There is no ability (that I have found) to change or make custom titles for expenses. There are a ton of options but none are specific to the film industry of my company; so I am forced to used the pre-made ones instead. Again, it might exist but I have not found it yet.
4. The paid account claims to be "white labeled" (my term, not theirs), but it the Cheqbook logo sure shows up on a sent invoice.
5. The amount of information on the Dashboard can be overwhelming. It's way too many things to scrub through to figure out what is what.
6. I get that Cheqbook cuts costs by using third party integrations for customers to accept payments (I'm glad they at least have Stripe and not just "PayPal"), but it would be nice if that option was available directly through Cheqbook (even with the same or slightly higher fees).

Overall, I think it is a good purchase and can bring value to any business. I may have to open a completely different bank account with one of the banks Cheqbook supports in order to take advantage of the software.

I'm giving it 4 tacos due to the lack of online bank options and not being able to get rid of that annoying "Next Step - Share with your accountant" message. I'm a Veteran Owned small business, I don't have an accountant.

Great software, hard to believe this is an LTD

Great product, mature software, I had my initial doubts as I mentioned in the Q&A session.

But this is the real-deal and fully featured. I bought a code, tested it out, and definitely will be letting go of Wave accounting. I hate accounting software companies with a passion (looking especially at you, Intuit) and am relieved to find this software. The MRR that i'd be putting toward the software can instead be given to a book keeper. I had a book keeper look into this software and they liked the interface and said it was fully featured. So my book keeper is now using this instead of Waveapps accounting. I will make my money back from this purchase in ~3 months. Bargain!

Accounting is not my strong-suit, it's a big weakness currently. I am so happy and relieved to have this software and get book-keeping off my plate! The auto categories is nice too, as is the color categorizing.

I hope they upload a video to appsumo and invest a little in some marketing/how to videos , that would help alot. It's very sttraight-forward software and onboarding was great. But marketing videos to hype me and prospective buyers would be helpful

Definitely recommended, I would have regretted the crap out of not purchasing this software. These guys deserve more reviews on AS and elsewhere.

Better than FreshBooks

I'm a bookkeeper and tax preparer and use many accounting platforms throughout the month/year to support my clients. I would recommend Cheqbook to my year end GL clients and to clients that have basic accounting needs.

Cheqbook has a very gentle learning curve.

It works like FreshBooks or Xero in the sense that you "match" transactions. Unlike Freshbook, you can easily correct an entry that is pulled in erroneously through a bank feed. This platforms features are comparable to QuickBooks Simple Start and/or Essentials plans. The platform doesn't have the glossy graphics of QB but it will do the job.

From what I've seen so far, there's no option for "classes." And if you charge sales tax, it looks like you'll need to manually add the tax for each locale.

I'm happy to use Cheqbook for my personal finance maintenance and am excited that I won't have the stress of jumping through hoops getting certified on a platform just to get a free subscription to manage my personal finances.

If you just need to record debits and credits, send invoices, and track tax obligations, I think that you can't go wrong with this offering.
