This could be a great app, but at this point in January 2025, it currently isn’t what I expected. As you can see on the AppSumo product page this app is being marketed as a replacement for Otter, but I would say that that is certainly not the case.

Firstly, one of the selling points of this app is that it can provide real time feedback using AI based on the current conversation that Hedy is recording. However, think about this in action… while you are in a in-person meeting, are you really going to be playing with your phone at the same time? It does not quite work that way. It is very rude - at least in the United States - to be fiddling with your phone at the same time that you are supposed to be in a in-person meeting. So using the features of Hedy while in an in-person meeting are not quite feasible.

Secondly, let’s discuss online meetings. Only the Hedy mobile app works to record your meetings. The web app cannot record; the only purpose of the web app is to export the transcript, set up Zapier or ask the Hedy AI questions about the completed meeting.

So if you are in a zoom/teams/google meeting on your laptop and you are using your headphones, you can’t record with Hedy. You also can’t record a zoom/teams/google meeting taking place on your phone because the microphone is in use. Remember that the web app has no recording capabilities…

Finally, I've had two instances where the Hedy app simply stopped recording 10 minutes into a meeting with no provided reason. This was a bit devastating, as I was expecting the entire meeting to have been recorded. They were 60 minute meetings.

I am happy Hedy finally released the ability to play back the audio of the meeting, but this feature is slightly redundant considering my first two points above.

Otter automatically joins online meetings in third person, whether on a laptop or cell phone. I think if Hedy implemented this, this would take care of the second point I detailed in this review.

At this point I’ve tested the product in-depth for two weeks and these are my findings that I hope others will find useful.

I didn't expect much to be honest.
But for the price tag I wanted to try it and prepared to refund.
But holy moly, The ease of use, feature set and overall quality of the notes and the AI suggestions is surprisingly good.
The meeting minutes for example are in fact way better than any of these i ever wrote or any of my colleagues and the possibility to chat with the AI about the meeting afterwards is awesome.

This is a clear 8 of 5 Tacos for me, this should be an instant biy for you, espacially for the price tag that feels like stealing (even the original price of 150$ would be pretty cheap tbh.).

Props to the Devs, that's a damn good piece of software.

I have been using this tool for over a month, and I am very happy with it. The speech recognition and transcription capabilities are far superior to Google's built-in recorder on Android. I also utilize Krisp.ai, which automatically activates whenever I have meetings on my calendar and integrates seamlessly with the audio and microphone on my Mac. However, the summaries and transcriptions from Krisp.ai are only average.

In contrast, Hedy captures everything accurately, including the names of companies and individuals. The summaries provided even include actionable items. Recently, they added Zapier integration, which is a great enhancement. The tool is evolving nicely, and I love it!

P.S. I would appreciate it if they could add calendar syncing and trigger Hedy just before meetings.

I have used many meeting transcription and summarization tools. Hedy stands out with its intelligent summaries, well-structured notes, and built-in prompts that make it easy to generate smart insights and strategic takeaways. I already use MeetGeek to record Zoom meetings. So, this purchase was more of a lottery ticket (hoping it would be better at "something'). I find myself using Hedy during meetings to plan what to say or how to respond. It's clever and well worth the money.

I absolutely love this tool. It allows me to summarize any conference call action items so I don’t miss to make a note of important topics. I love that I’m also able to summarize my team meetings and provide them with items covered at the end of every meeting. A total game changer for me!
