Hedy is one of the best tools on AppSumo, let me tell you why I love it....

This simple tool has made my life much easier. I think anyone could benefit from using it.

I'm not going to talk much about all of the typical features because lots of that is already covered. I'm going to share how I personally use it. You can see the typical uses and features on their website or on this page if you want more info.

Main Impressions

- Life-Changing Tool: Out of all the things I've bought on AppSumo (it's been a LOT as you can see from my profile), only a handful have really made a difference in my life. Hedy is one of them. It’s not just about taking notes; it genuinely helps me manage the overwhelming amount of information I deal with daily.
- Acts Like a Personal Secretary: For someone like me who is busy and often overwhelmed with tasks and information, Hedy acts like a personal secretary. It takes notes on so many things in my daily life, whether it's remembering tips from a video, notes from a call, or ideas from a brainstorming session.

Features I Use Often

- Language Translation: Hedy does a surprisingly decent job with language translation. You can switch the language in the settings, and it translates what you need, which I find really useful for quick things.
- Phone Call Notes: When I’m on calls where a lot of info is shared, I use Hedy to listen and take notes. It helps me avoid missing important details. I use it for both personal calls (like Dr. household stuff, etc) and business calls.
- Social Media and Video Notes: I often find helpful info in video ads or video content on social media (like Tiktok and IG). I use Hedy to capture notes from these videos, which keeps everything organized. It’s amazing how I can have it listen to whatever's playing on my phone (you can also have it listen to television shows or computer videos, anything really).
- Educational Content: If I watch something informative on YouTube or another platform, Hedy can listen and take notes for me. This has been super useful for capturing educational content.
- Brainstorming and Meetings: Great for solo brainstorming or if you just want to remember stuff. The follow up ai chat features are helpful too. Sometimes, there are great insights that I had not thought of.
- Customer Support: Julian has been amazing with customer support. I've received quick and friendly responses from him whenever I've reached out, which has made my experience even better.

Integration

You can connect Hedy with Zapier using its API keys to send notes to Google Drive. Every time I create a new note or meeting, it sends that content over to Drive. I wish they’d add a native export as a doc file because the current formatting isn’t ideal, but it’s a powerful backup solution.

Privacy

They take privacy seriously. I carefully reviewed their privacy stuff to make sure. Keep the cloud sync setting off if you want the most privacy (everything is processed locally on your phone) and you can copy notes manually. If you want to use Zapier with it, you need the cloud sync settings on though. This means you’ll be giving up a bit of privacy since it sends notes through their servers.

Minor Issues

- I’ve had a couple of minor hiccups, like my phone dying during use (my fault) and a glitch with the pause feature not saving my note one time. This isn’t enough to knock off a star, but I do want to be honest so you can avoid any issues until they get them fixed (which I’m sure they will with how quickly they tackle updates). Perhaps avoid using pause unless you test it first.

Support Hedy to Keep It Alive

If you love Hedy and want to see it succeed, the best ways to support them are:

1. Leave reviews on app platforms. This helps raise their visibility and encourages more people to check it out. Many projects on AppSumo struggle long-term (as a lot of us know), so it's important to support the great ones like Hedy to help them survive.

2. The one-time deal is great, but it's not sustainable for many projects without ongoing support. If you want Hedy to succeed and be available for a long time, recommend it to others and encourage them to pay for a subscription (it's not expensive). This will provide Hedy with regular funds to keep it running.

Suggestions for Improvements

- Adding a native functionality to export notes as doc/docx files would be great since the formatting with Zapier isn’t ideal.
- Additionally, an auto-save feature would be helpful to avoid losing notes if your phone dies or if there's a glitch like I had with the pause feature issue so that it saves everything accurately.

Final Thoughts

If you’re unsure about trying Hedy, you can always get a refund if it doesn’t work for you. At first, I didn't know if I would use it enough, but it's one of the tools I use the most now.

Whether you need it for therapy sessions, recording tips, recipes, or keeping track of thoughts, Hedy is like a personal secretary in your pocket. If you feel overwhelmed with information and want an easy way capture everything, try it out.
