MetaSurvey — Plus exclusive Reviews

While their unlimited storage and swipe questions are nice (even though swiping between two choices has a limited use case), these are the only unique aspects of this tool, in my opinion. However, these features don't make up for the app's overall limitations, as most of the features it offers can be attained at a much lower cost using other tools on AppSumo that have even more advanced capabilities, like Formly, for example.

Other basic limitations of MetaSurvey include:
🚫 1) Custom HTML isn’t supported
🚫 2) Cannot modify font styles (only colors)
🚫 3) CSV import only supports swipe questions with Yes/No answers. Not possible to import multiple-choice questions.
🚫 4) Respondents cannot upload files (which is where unlimited storage would really be a benefit)
🚫 5) Cannot use a keyboard to navigate all question types (only a few)
🚫 6) Cannot use variables (like first name or their score in questions)
🚫 7) Cannot add an image to all question types (only swipe questions)
🚫 8) Cannot rank items as a question type
🚫 9) Cannot provide respondents the option to skip a question, as all questions must be answered (which is a turn-off for most people). The ability to make some questions optional is a basic survey feature that most people expect, so it is embarrassing as a survey developer to have to add "Do not wish to answer" as a choice. Even as a highly voted feature, there is no indication this will be possible soon.
🚫 10) It advertises that you can "easily" translate surveys into any language "manually", which is contradictory as this puts all the effort on you. There is no language menu option to accomplish any part of this automatically (even the interface text must be translated manually).
🚫 11) Only 1 user can access an account (extra charge for additional users)

Considering that MetaSurvey has been on AppSumo nearly non-stop since 2021 and has less than 50 reviews, this is very telling. It also raises concerns about their MRR and explains why the product has been lingering on the platform for so long.

*Note to seller: If any of the missing features listed above have already been released and I am mistaken, please specify which ones for the benefit of everyone. Also, can you please explain why none of these are listed under the "roadmap" category as you stated in your original response but instead are still listed as or have been downgraded to "gathering votes"? In fact, the only item currently listed under the "roadmap" section is the dynamic variables feature, which only has 11 votes (quite low compared to many other more basic feature requests with more than twice the number of votes). So what is the purpose of asking users to vote on a feature if more popular requests for essential features, like the ability to add images to all question types or the ability to make some questions optional, are not being prioritized year after year? 🤔

This software is very easy to use, clear UI. Offers all features needed to carry out simple surveys. Looking forward to further developments to add a bit more flexibility in questionnaire design. All in all: great tool.

To get more than 1 user its immediately chargeable. Once you add users its not a particularly good experience either.

I actually purchased this tool and stacked 3 Tacos...then returned it. Then purchased it again. This is how desperate I am for a good, simple, effective survey tool that I could use with audiences when I speak.

This tool has the potential to be AMAZING, but there are some really critical, simple things that are currently missing.

1. NO FIRST/LAST NAME: There is no option for a FIRST NAME and LAST NAME question. You have to set these up as two separate questions, which feels cumbersome to users.

2. CAN'T CHANGE QUESTION NAMES: DO NOT start from a template if you plan to do any integrations. The names of the questions are hard-coded when the survey is created and you can't change the names which makes integrating through Pabbly or anywhere else confusing. Just start from scratch and name your questions correctly. You can change the question for the user but it doesn't change behind the scenes.

3. NO HIDDEN QUESTIONS or DEFAULTS: I really need to be able to have a hidden question with a default value so I can pull that through my integration. That's not an option.

4. MULTICHOICE QUESTIONS ARE REQUIRED: If you do a pick list, at least one value has to be selected. My preference would be to have the question as optional, but instead, I have to add a "no thanks" choice, which is a shame.

I'm going to keep going with this platform and hope that they make the tiny tweaks needed to make this tool a real competitor! Thanks for offering a very good tool. :)

I love this! My customers love this! high open rates and retention, can't wait to try it on my website, on Social, and maybe to my best customers on SMS giving them a choice to choose a promotion they like. I'm going to have some fun with this -
