Works as advertised

A straight shooter that works well. I'm keeping this tool to edit my podcasts. I believe more improvements and features will be added in the future.

Great tool, great price, greatsupport

I've been using Snapcut in parallel with SubMagic for a few days.

PROs
- Easily upload videos or use YouTube or other social links to ingest content
- Selection of fonts, effects and transitions is great - don't need 100 options, if I only use 5-10
- Branding is easy to apply from video to video
- B-roll can be inserted by selecting words and using Pexels as a source - it gets the job done (it's better than nothing)
- Very good transcription for multiple languages (speech to text)
- You can export the subtitles alone, for use in other tools (ex. Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve) - huge functionality for me, to be able to play around with timings, durations, colors and fonts in a different environment

CONs
- 2 GB Limit is small for file uploads - but I got around that by uploading an Unlisted YouTube video and it worked great.
- Speed isn't as high as other tools (SubMagic), but you only have to wait a few minutes for a 60+ minute video - which I found to be more than acceptable
- Only free B-Roll at the moment - and the associated user experience feels a bit lacking at this time
- Haven't seen an upload-your-own-font functionality, to help keep things even more on brand

Overall, this is easily a 4.5/5 tool, looking forward to more improvements on the roadmap.

Hi Sorin-HowToCreateAPodcastFromScratch,

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and balanced review. It truly means a lot to us 🙌

Regarding the cons, let us share some next steps from our end:
- File size limit: we are working on increasing to 5GB per upload
- Speed: Our AI needs a bit of time to analyze the video, but we certainly need to work on it to boost the processing...

Good almost GREAT

THE GOOD
Let’s cut to the chase—Snapcut excels where it matters most: finding quality clips in your videos. Tools like Minvo often struggle to extract even 10 decent clips from a 3-hour podcast, but Snapcut nails it. Its ability to identify and clip valuable content is among the best I’ve seen.

Another highlight? You can add video intros and outros seamlessly. However, I wish there were options to:

• Upload separate intro/outro files.
• Set overlapping transitions (e.g., have the clip audio start midway through the intro or outro).

Snapcut’s AI deserves credit for making sense of long-form content and extracting meaningful moments.

THE BAD
Now for the pain points: sharing clips is a mess.

• I uploaded a video outro but haven’t been able to download any clips with it applied. The “see video exported” option just spins forever.
• The scoring system is confusing. Is the first box an explanation of why the AI picked the clip? If so, why isn’t it a usable, SEO-friendly video description with keywords and hashtags?
• There’s no keyword section, and the transcript feels misplaced—it should only appear when editing a clip.

THE MISSING
One major limitation: Snapcut doesn’t support YouTube Live links. This is a significant gap for content creators who rely on repurposing live streams into smaller, shareable clips. Other tools offer this functionality, so it’s surprising that Snapcut doesn’t.

THE UGLY
Snapcut must prioritize direct social media posting. The ability to post clips directly to platforms from within the app is non-negotiable. On top of that, they should add a social media scheduling tool so users can plan and automate posts without needing third-party tools.

That said, Snapcut’s clip-finding capabilities are on par, if not better, than Opus, which I consider the industry leader right now. Other tools falter at this, but Snapcut shines here. If they address the glaring issues, this could easily become the top platform in its space.

I’m trying to keep an eye on the roadmap section to see if any of these changes are in the pipeline, but as of now, it shows NOTHING is currently being worked on. That’s concerning, and I hope it changes soon.

Snapcut is a Game Changer! Excellent Software

Snapcut is a game-changer for video editing enthusiasts and professionals alike. Its intuitive interface makes it incredibly easy to use, even for beginners. The AI-powered tools streamline the editing process, saving time without compromising on quality.

I particularly love the auto-cut feature, which seamlessly trims videos to perfection. The variety of effects and transitions available allows for creative freedom, making each project unique and engaging.

I understand that there are some negative reviews on here about the processing time, but these reviews fail to take into account that Snapcut has to go through you entire video and score the virality of the sections which will perform best. I use another software for creating Shorts, and Snapcut takes the same amount of time as that software, but produces twice as many shorts.

Overall, Snapcut has transformed my video editing workflow, making it more efficient and enjoyable! The only request that I have it that you add higher Tiers so that I can purchase more minutes.
