Be Carful of this!

At first glance, I was impressed by Tiny Talk’s clean and user-friendly interface. However, after two months of using the platform, I can confidently say that it is a waste of both time and money. The service not only underdelivers but also feels like a misleading deal. Here’s why:

1. Pricing and Features Lack Logic

Tiny Talk’s pricing structure is baffling. If you want to access ChatGPT-4 or its advanced capabilities, you need to subscribe to Tier 3 or higher. Anything below Tier 3 restricts you to ChatGPT-3.5, which is outdated and lacks many functionalities.

Unlike most other LTDs , Tiny Talk requires you to bring your own OpenAI API key to use its features. Worse, it doesn’t even offer free credits to get started—something other LTDs do. Nothing works out of the box unless you add your own API key, not even basic features like website crawling.

2. Website Crawling is Painfully Ineffective

The website crawling feature, especially for WordPress, is a nightmare. I tried it on three different WordPress sites with various plugins installed, but the result was the same: endless “crawling” or “queued” statuses. It took me three days of troubleshooting just to figure out what was wrong, only to realize the solution was flawed.

3. Abysmal Support

Tiny Talk’s support team is one of the worst I’ve encountered. The average response time is 4–5 days, and when you do get a response, it’s vague and unhelpful. The lack of personalized communication—they sign emails as the “Tiny Talk team”—makes the entire experience impersonal and frustrating.

4. No Custom Domain

Unlike other LTDs in this space, Tiny Talk doesn’t support custom domains. This is a glaring omission for businesses that want to maintain their branding.

5. Poor WhatsApp Integration

The WhatsApp integration is costly and impractical. Once you register your WhatsApp Business number, it becomes locked to Tiny Talk, meaning you need to purchase a new number and device for your business. The integration process is manual, time-consuming, and riddled with inefficiencies.

6. Useless Lead Generation Features

Tiny Talk’s lead generation option is laughably basic. When a visitor submits their email, it is stored in the help desk without any notifications—no email, mobile, or browser alerts. Even if browser notifications existed, you’d need to keep the browser open all the time to receive them.

7. No Team Management or Permissions

I purchased the highest Tier (7 codes) with access to 50 chatbots, but there is no way to assign specific permissions to team members. If you plan to sell these bots to clients or collaborate with a team, you’ll find this limitation utterly meaningless.

8. Harmful for Business Use

For businesses, Tiny Talk is more harmful than helpful. The chatbot often pulls answers directly from OpenAI, bypassing your custom knowledge base, even when parameters are adjusted. This means the bot could provide free answers to questions your business charges for, including calculations and other valuable services.

9. Lack of Advanced Features
• No ability to pull images from your site or documents.
• No ability to train on Excel files.
• Limited customization options.

An Alternative?

I recommend Pickaxe AI as a better option, even if it’s not perfect. Pickaxe AI is:
• Professional and clean with a custom domain feature.
• Offers user registration for client bots and Stripe integration.
• Provides free API credits while allowing you to use your own.
• Compatible with nearly all document types and includes robust integrations.

It’s also cheaper and more feature-rich than Tiny Talk, making it a far superior choice.

Final Thoughts

Tiny Talk is not worth your time or investment, whether as an LTD or a subscription. There are far better options on the market.

If Tiny Talk were truly a standout product, it wouldn’t be perpetually listed as an LTD on AppSumo, which signals its inability to succeed as a regular offering. Avoid this app—it’s a costly disappointment.

Dear Gabi,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on Tiny Talk. We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience and regret that it did not meet your expectations. While many of our customers share positive experiences, we understand that every user’s perspective is valuable.

We encourage constructive feedback and would have been glad to address these concerns through our support channels. Nonetheless, we’ll address your points here:

Pricing and Features
Our tiered pricing structure is designed to offer basic features, like GPT-3.5 access, at lower tiers, while reserving advanced capabilities for higher tiers. This approach aligns with industry standards.
Regarding API keys, we aim to provide flexibility by letting users integrate their own OpenAI keys. While this may not suit everyone, it ensures we maintain realistic and sustainable pricing. For users wanting to explore before committing, our free plan offers 200 monthly messages, including website crawling functionality.

Website Crawling
We’re sorry to hear about the issues with website crawling. This feature is available to all users, including free accounts, and doesn’t require an API key. We would have appreciated the opportunity to troubleshoot the specific WordPress sites you mentioned. For users who reach out, we go to great lengths to resolve issues, including liaising with hosting providers.

Customer Support
As a small team, we aim to respond promptly but acknowledge that high demand can impact response times. We appreciate your feedback on the impersonal tone of our email signature and will work to improve this.

Custom Domains
Custom domains are currently unavailable but are planned for implementation, as outlined on our feature board and in AppSumo comments. We’ve prioritized other requested features first but recognize the importance of this functionality for branding.

WhatsApp Integration
Your feedback on the earlier WhatsApp integration is valid, and we’ve since introduced the official WhatsApp Embedded Signup flow to streamline the process. Regarding number registration, WhatsApp restricts a number to one application. While unofficial methods may exist, we prioritize compliance with official guidelines.

Lead Generation Features
Our lead generation tools are basic but functional. We’ve recently introduced Webhooks and Zapier integrations, enabling notifications via Slack, email, or CRM systems. Additionally, a revamped chat widget is in development, allowing more customization, including custom fields for lead collection and persisted user-side chat history.

Team Management and Permissions
Team management features are not yet available, as stated in our deal and documentation. However, this is a high-priority feature for many of our agency customers, and we’re committed to delivering it in future updates.

Business Use and Knowledge Base Behavior
We’ve introduced fallback options to utilize GPT’s general knowledge base based on user requests. While most users find this helpful, we’ll investigate your concerns about its impact on business-specific use cases.

Advanced Features
Your feedback on missing features, such as Excel support, is noted and will be added to our roadmap. We would appreciate more specific examples of desired customization options to better address your needs.

We regret that your experience with Tiny Talk was not as intended. While this review highlights areas for improvement, we wish it had been delivered with a more constructive tone to foster collaboration.

Your feedback has provided actionable insights, and we’ll work diligently to ensure no other customer shares a similar experience.

Wishing you the best ❤️
Oscar
